Sadaqah
Quran said:
Every act of goodness is charity.
Sahih Muslim, Hadith 496
In a world where countless people are living in despair, it is through acts of charity that you can stabilise many lives. There are many ways in which you can do charity, but one of the most common ways is through Sadaqah.
What Is Sadaqah?
Sadaqah is a voluntary act of charity and has great importance in Islam. It shows your gratitude towards Allah S.W.T, protects you from unexpected problems and showers His mercy on you while helping the needy.
You can do it in many ways, such as paying the debts of poor people, providing for the needs of low-income families, helping to prevent famine or any other calamities.
Why Perform Sadaqah?
-
It secures your place in Jannah
Because when we gain Allah’s love and mercy, we’re rewarded with an eternity in Jannah by His side.
Quran Said:
Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great reward. (57:7)
-
Saves you from the Hellfire
The Prophet ﷺ said:
Guard yourself from the Hellfire, even with half of a date in Sadaqah. If he cannot find it, then with a kind word. (Bukhari and Muslim)
-
Prevents calamity
The power of Sadaqah is that it protects you from difficulty, trials and hardship.
Quran Said:
Give Sadaqah without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (At-Tirimidhi)
-
Ensures Allah’s protection and provision
The Prophet ﷺ told us:
“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter…” (Muslim)
