Aqiqah is a Sunnah that Muslims perform after a child’s birth. It is a way of showing your gratitude to Allah S.W.T to bless the baby by sacrificing livestock such as goats or sheep.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself used to perform Aqiqah after the birth of a newborn to protect the baby and give thanks.
It usually takes place on the seventh day after birth. However, you can do it at a later time.
