Sudan Emergency

Crisis Has Deepened in Sudan After The Recent Conflict

Decades of internal strife in Sudan have resulted in significant loss of life and displacements. But the suffering has aggravated with the recent outbreak of violence. Clashes erupted throughout Sudan, transforming the capital of Khartoum into a critical conflict zone. The already-distressed locals face another layer of challenges with social stability disrupted.

More than 150,000 lives have been lost, and many have been left injured after the latest turn of events. 12 million have fled their homes and left starving in tattered tents, relying on your generosity to survive this tragic situation. Malnourished children have their treatment interrupted, and pregnant women face life-threatening risks due to insufficient nutrition. These trying times eagerly require your attention.

What’s the Average Day Like in Sudan?

People in Sudan live in an environment constantly exposed to fear, loss, and deprivation. Their biggest struggles include scarcity of food and water, insufficient or non-existent healthcare, and some of the highest malnourishment rates. To make it worse, natural disasters like flooding and droughts have added to displacements and food insecurity.

  • More than 30 million people need humanitarian assistance
  • Natural disasters and ongoing conflict have displaced 12 million people
  • More than 3 million children suffer from acute malnutrition, of which 610,000 suffer from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM)

On top of this, food prices in Sudan have increased to a staggering 137% compared to the previous year. As a result, households are experiencing a decline in their purchasing power, allocating over 65% of their overall expenses toward food only. There is a desperate need for humanitarian aid to ease the plight of individuals and families.
