The Human Toll
Morocco has been gripped by grief as at least 820 lives have been lost and 672 people injured respectively, as reported by Moroccan state media. Families have been torn apart, homes reduced to rubble, and communities left in shock. In the heart of this disaster, we find our calling as Muslims to extend our help and support to those in need.
A Precarious Situation in Marrakesh
The city of Marrakesh, with its rich history and vibrant culture, has been deeply affected. The highest damage has been inflicted upon the old city, where buildings, already fragile and prone to collapse, now stand in ruins. It is a heartbreaking scene, and the people of Marrakesh need our assistance now more than ever.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
“And they give food, in spite of their love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], We feed you seeking Allah’s Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.”
